Chef Seckin plating a dish

Our story

From the shores of southern Turkey to San Diego

Bosforo is the catering and events side of Chef Seckin's kitchen: the same food, the same hospitality, brought to wherever you are celebrating.

Chef Seckin Sage Anlasbay

Chef Seckin grew up in the Cukurova region of southern Turkey, a fertile plain near the Mediterranean known for its kebabs, peppers, citrus and bread baked in the fire. Those flavors stayed with him when he made San Diego his home in 2011.

He started Bosforo as a mobile wood-fired pizza kitchen, cooking at parties, markets and weddings around the city. The pizzas carried a bit of everything he loves: Turkish ingredients, Italian technique and a Spanish love of sharing plates.

That catering kitchen grew into Bosforo, his Turkish restaurant and bar on Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, modeled on the meyhane, the lively neighborhood taverns of Istanbul. Bosforo Catering brings that same table to your event.

What we believe

Hospitality is the main course

Cook with fire and patience

Slow marinades, hand-chopped kebabs, bread from a hot oven. We do not cut corners where flavor lives.

Share everything

Food tastes better passed from hand to hand. Our menus are built for tables where people talk, laugh and reach across.

Make guests feel at home

Our team treats your guests the way a Turkish family treats visitors: warmly, generously and with one more plate than expected.

Chefs, bartenders and servers who work as one

Every Bosforo event is staffed by our own people, many of whom cook and pour at the restaurant every week. They know the food, they know each other, and it shows in the way an evening flows.
